Frequently Asked Questions

INSURANCE/PAYMENT

Do you take insurance?

At this time we do not contract with any insurance plans. We are able to provide you with a superbill that lists the services and diagnosis codes that apply to your visit and in some cases you may be able to submit this for reimbursement to your insurance plan or flex spending account.

If your plan of care includes labwork, medication, or imaging, you may be able to use your insurance for those services, but we cannot guarantee coverage.

How do I pay for my services?

We accept cash, but prefer mobile payment options like Zelle, Venmo, Paypal, or standard credit card. Most payments are required up front, but established patients may qualify for payment plans. If you pay by credit card, it must be in your name or else the owner of the card must be present.

SCHEDULING

Do you accept walk-in patients?

At this time we are not set up to be able to accommodate walk-in patients, however we can often get you a same day appointment with short notice. If you need an appointment urgently, it is usually best to text the office number: 760-493-7435 and we will try to help.

When are you open?

At this time our services are available by appointment only, so our operating hours vary a lot from day to day. Typically though, Anna is available for appointments Sunday-Tuesday from 12:00pm-8:00pm and Wednesday-Saturday 6:00pm-9:00pm

How do I schedule?

We hope to have our online scheduling platform up and running soon, but until then you can reach out by text, voicemail, email, or the contact form. Let us know what type of service you are looking to book and if you have a preferred day/time. We will do our best to accommodate your needs and with evening and weekend availability we should be able to find something that works.

APPOINTMENT INFO

What COVID precautions are you taking?

Our clinician has been fully vaccinated and will be wearing a mask during your visit. General medical guidelines like sanitizing surfaces between patients and regular handwashing are of course followed. During some treatments you will be removing your mask (like chemical peels and microneedling), but we ask that you keep your mask on at other times. Please do not come to the office if you are experiencing COVID symptoms, including: fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose or congestion, sudden loss of taste/smell, etc.

Can I bring anyone with me to the appointment?

We want you to be comfortable at the appointment, so if bringing a friend, your partner, or someone else with you helps to put you at ease, you are welcome to do so. We may ask that person to step out briefly to go through some sensitive screening questions, but then they can join us in the room. There is a curtain separating the sitting area and exam table, so if you need an exam you can choose where your support person should sit if you want to maintain physical privacy.

You are also welcome to bring your children with you to the appointment, but keep in mind that we may be discussing sensitive subjects and we may be able to serve you better if children are not present. You are best at assessing your own situation.

Do I have to be 18 to obtain services?

California law allows people age 12 years and older to give consent themselves for services that are related to pregnancy (like pregnancy testing and contraception) and sexual health (like STI testing and treatment). These types of services are kept confidential, even if your parent pays for the services. That said, we do encourage you to be open with the trusted adults in your life if it is safe to do so. If you are under 18 and seeking other types of care (mental wellness, skin care, women’s health needs that are not related to pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections), you will need to have parental consent.

Do I need identification?

In most cases, yes. To establish care with us, we need to know who we are working with, especially if we are providing sexual health or mental wellness services. We do ask that you bring a photo ID to your first appointment, but we typically won’t need to see it after that. This can be a drivers license, school ID, military ID, passport, etc. If you do not have photo ID, talk to us about your situation and we will see what can be done.

I am gay, overweight, Muslim, black, autistic, non-binary. Can I still be seen?

The short answer is YES! We welcome patients from all backgrounds, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, body size, religion, race, ethnicity, physical ability, etc.

That said, Anna is licensed in California as a women’s health nurse practitioner which does limit the services she can offer to some groups. The current licensing allows her to see patient of all genders for services related to sexual health (genital/pelvic exams, STI screening, contraception management, etc), but only women for primary care services like mental wellness.

We are also only able to see patients who can consent themselves or who have a guardian who consents for them. This means there may be age restrictions (see the question above regarding minors obtaining services) and restrictions based on cognitive ability/coherence so people who are impaired from drugs or alcohol at the time of service will not be seen and those who have cognitive deficits will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis as to their ability to give consent for services.

Are my services confidential?

We follow all state and federal guidelines related to patient privacy and confidentiality. Since we do not contract with insurance, information obtained during your care will not be shared with anyone outside of the office unless you have granted permission or your care necessitates it. There are some limitations to confidentiality related to acts of violence that have occurred, suicidal/homicidal thoughts, acts of abuse, sexual misconduct, and reportable infections. We will discuss these situations with you if they arise.

SERVICES

Do you do Botox or fillers?

YES! At this time we offer Botox treatments in the upper face (forehead, eyes, nose) and Juvederm filler for lips. Other toxin (Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau) and filler products (Versa, Kysse, etc) are not currently available, but we may offer them in the future.

I am looking for a counselor/therapist. Is that you?

We do have a focus on mental wellness and want to help people who are struggling with stress management, coping skills, and day-to-day issues that are keeping them from living their best life. We can definitely help you to tackle some of the big issues that are standing in your way, but we are not counselors, therapists, or psychiatrists. If you feel that you need a deep dive into longstanding issues, multiple sessions to work through your history, or you need someone to juggle multiple medications for mental health, we are happy to provide referrals to specialists in the area. If you need someone to work on daily routine, low risk interventions, beneficial supplements, and first line medication for depression or anxiety, that is what we do.
